7th Week: First official doctor's appointment

I just finished my 7th week. I lost another 2 pounds (total so far 6 lbs). I had some pretty strong nausea this week. My doctor called in a nausea medication….took it at 11am. By 12:30, I would not keep my eyes open. I felt pretty bad so Jeb had to pick me up from work. Slept 14 hours that night. Will have to try another drug. This week, I found out Cindy Fuller is also pregnant. She is due exactly 1 week before me. My first official DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT was on Friday...everything looks good. I had a couple of test done, an exam and then an ultrasound. I got my first picture of the baby…and my doctor confirmed there is only one baby in there! This week I have also noticed my face is very dry. Guess that's another pregnancy thing.

6th Week

I have been loosing weight; probably because I have not eaten very well the last few “green” days. I had a few queasy days this week. I called in to work late Monday but turned out I couldn’t make it to work anyway because of bad storms and flooding in Houston. Stayed home all day.

On another note...when Jeb and I decided we were going to try to get pregnant, he started looking for a 4-door truck for the "Family Vehicle". Of course, it was just an excuse to buy a "Powerstroke Diesel" truck or what I call a "big manly truck that sounds like an 18-wheeler pulling up in the driveway and rides about as smooth as a tractor" truck. As I get bigger, I'm sure riding in the "Powerstroke" won't be very comfortable. In fact, we better not take it to the hospital as I might have the baby in it! He keeps it spotless...spends a lot of time tinkering with it...I tease him that it has become "the mistress".

5th Week

I am still feeling really good. The only thing I am really noticing is that I get tired much quicker at night. I have also lost about 4 pounds. Near the end of the week, I started having some nausea. Crackers before I get up didn't really work all that great.

It's official!

Today, my Doctor called to confirm I am indeed pregnant. My first official appointment is later this month. I am scheduled for a sonogram but since that will be in the 7th week, I probably won’t hear a heart beat yet. I have started reading a book called “Your Pregnancy-Week by Week”. So far, no morning sickness! I am so glad.

We are having a baby!

We are having a baby!!! I have started this blog so you all can keep up with what's going on with the pregnancy and eventually the beautiful baby girl we will be having in February.

Below is a time line of where we started.
June 2005
After Jeb's dad passed away, we started talking about the possibility of having a child. We decided to think about it for the rest of the year and discuss in January.

January 2006
We think we were ready. We decided to wait one more month.

February 2006
We are ready to go off the pill. We called my doctor with questions. The nurse said to stop pills and wait 2 cycles before we start trying.

April 2006
No pills…we are trying to get pregnant!!

May 29, 2006 1 day late

May 30, 2006 2 days late

May 31, 2006 3 days late

I was 4 days late! I decided to get a pregnancy test on the way home from work. Jeb was at Kelly’s helping them move. The test turned out positive! I called Jeb & told him to come right home. When he arrived, I just showed him the test. At first, he was very shocked! It took him a minute to comprehend what this meant. Even though we had been trying for 2 months, it was still a surprise. After the initial shock, it was happiness! We checked the test & the directions several times...decided it was for real! It’s time to tell the family.

We went over to Kelly’s. Mom was there. Jeb asked Kelly what she planned to do with Colin’s crib when he was out of it. Kelly replies I don’t know, sell it, why? He asks would you consider giving it to us. She replies, why & then her eyes got really big. At first, she got mad thinking we were playing a mean trick on her. Then, I pulled out the test to prove it. Screaming, crying jumping up & down followed. Mom & Kelly are both shocked. Now the questions; How? What? I thought… Immediately Kelly brings out her pregnancy books & starts telling me all sorts of things. She also decided to figure out the due date…February 8th according to her calculations. Now, we start calling everyone. That was so entertaining. I put the phone on speaker, drop the news & the response from everyone….”what, say that again…then 60 seconds of high pitched screaming. Later that night, we finally have a chance to tell Scott. His face was priceless! We also tell the girls later that night & they screamed for 5 minutes. We could not talk to them anymore on the phone.

Words from dad…
Well I would have to say to my future son or daughter that I am already thinking way ahead for them. I am thinking that I need to begin praying and prophesying over them and their mother, lay the spiritual ground work so to speak. The prayers that are spoken over them today will remain for the rest of their life; they don't just fade away with time. I am looking into ways to start a college savings plan for them so that when they are ready to begin college the money is there. I realize that I am getting started a little later in life than the majority of parents but also realize that my granddad and dad did the same thing. I need to take care of my health. I want to be a good "dad".
