33rd Week: doctor's appointment
Just completed my 33rd week. Somehow, I managed to loose 2 pounds...of course, we have had "christmas goodies" in the office all week so if I am bad, that will clear itself right up! Thursday, I had another check up and an ultrasound (already posted her latest picture below). Everything is perfect! Christmas was GREAT this year. I kept imagining how much fun it will be next year when Kendal will be about 10 months old.

32nd Week: 8th Month

8th month mark is here! I just completed the 32nd week and 8 more weeks to go! My weight gain was 2 pounds this past week. It seems like my belly is growing bigger every day. No telling how big it will be in the end!
We attended our last "baby education" class...Infant CPR...I feel very educated now...we'll see if I remember all of it when the baby actually gets here!
We had our work christmas party @ Arcadoro's Friday night & Music Ministry party @ Dencie's Sunday night. Only one more party...Christmas Eve @ my house!

31st week: 4D Ultrasound

Just completed the 31st week. My weight gain this past week was 1 pound. Above is another 4D Ultrasound picture of "Kendal Regan". YES, we finally decided to stick with a name.
I am still having some issues with heart burn...pretty severe some nights. I keep reminding myself it's all for a good cause and will be over soon!
Friday night, Jeb & I attended the Maranatha Church Power House Youth Banquet (we were judges for their talent show). The weather in Houston almost never gets cold enough to wear a fur coat but Friday was one of those nights!

Nursery Furniture Has Arrived!

30th Week - doctor's appointment
Just finished my 30th week. I can't believe I am closing in on 8 months. It seems like just yesterday I found out I was 4 weeks and now I am on the home stretch! No weight gain this past week. I had another checkup on Tuesday. Of course, everthing looks great. Dr. Gunn scheduled another ultrasound in 3 weeks. I am still battling severe heart burn. Since the Tums are just not doing it for me, Dr. Gunn said I could move to Pepcid...seems to be doing the trick...finally some relief.
Friday I ordered the nursery furniture. I can't wait for it to come in! The nursery will really start looking like a nursery then! Saturday, I had some photos taken...I guess you could call them "pregnant belly" photos. Hope they turned out nice.

29th week
Weight gain this past week was 1 pound; 16 total so far. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with the entire family. I got most of my Christmas shopping finished over the holiday weekend. This baby girl is moving around quite a bit. Thanksgiving night, she started kicking me around 4am. I counldn't go back to sleep so I watched TV until I was tired again. Then of course a few hours later I got up again to do the "Black Friday" shopping. The Nolan's (Jeb's friends from Midland) were in town visiting their daughter for the holiday weekend. Jeb wanted me to meet them so we went to the Woodlands on Saturday. While we were there, we ate lunch at my favorite mexican restaurant, Chuy's.

28th Week: 7th Month & 3rd Trimester

I am officially in my 7th month and third trimester. I did not gain any weight this last week so still at 15 total so far. I put up my christmas decorations Saturday.

Monday night I had dinner with my very good friend Deborah Breedlove. I am still having some indigestion/heart burn whatever it may be, lots of movement and frequent visits to the ladies room...all part of being prego's!

27th week: doctor's appointment
Weight gain this past week was 2 pounds; 15 total so far. This is the last week of my 2nd trimester. I am on the down hill. I had another checkup this week and a glucose test...results were negative...GREAT! While I was being checked, my doctor said I was having a Braxton Hicks contraction. I have felt this before but did not realize that's what that was. Now that I know what it feels like, I am noticing them more often. I had an obvoius one while at the grocery store Thursday and another one while shopping Saturday. They didn't really heart but were a little uncomfortable just for a few minutes. Over the weekend, Kelly, mom & I went to the Nutcracker Market in Houston. I made a few purchases for the nursery. It really put me in the mood for Christmas! I am ready to put up my tree! Sunday, we celebrated Colin's 2nd Birthday. I can't believe he is already 2 years old. I can see how quickly kids grow up.

26th Week
Weight gain this week was 1 pound...13 total. We had a steady stream of trick-or-treaters for a few hours on Halloween. I started thinking...this time next year I may be pushing a stroller around with a 10-month old in a costume (with Kelly's kids of course, she won't be eating candy yet and I certainly don't need any).
Jeb went to Midland for the weekend to run some errands and see family & friends...I had no desire to take a 10 hour road trip in a bouncy truck. Plus he took 3 work days off and I am saving my "day's off" for maternity leave. I decided to spend the night with my good friend Rhonda. We went Christmas shopping in the Woodlands all day Saturday.

25th Week
Weight gain total at the beginning of week 25 was 12 pounds. I am feeling a lot of movement...it's so fun! This past weekend, we attended another class at the hospital called "Prepared Childbirth". It was pretty much all about preparing you for what to expect when you go into labor and the whole process of childbirth. It was very informative! Sunday night she attend her second concert...Leeland. She kicked alot...she seems to really like music. It's now the end of the 25th week and I can't believe how fast it's going!!
On another note...we recently set a season pass on our Tivo for TLC's "The Baby Story". We are taking in as much as possible. We realize nothing will FULLY prepare us for what is to come but as much as we can see, hear, learn, observe as possible, the better.

Her first outfits!
I just had to put this in today...Jeb took a picture of her closet with her first outfits!
The white dress in front was my first gift from our pastor's wife (along with the white receiving blanket right next to it and the pink receiving blanket (gorgeous Feldman Brothers) a few hangers over. Of course this came with ruffle socks, bow, ruffle shoes, bloomers, bracelet...
The other outfits are a few of my purchases plus a cute sleeper from Dencie (Music Pastor at my church).
Notice the flowers on the shelf...one of Jeb's co-workers wife sent this home with him...the flower buds are actually onesies, bibs, socks, sleepers, wash clothes...she made it. Too cute!!!

24th Week - 6th Month & 2nd Trimester

Phase II of the room is complete. Scott (brother in law) came over Saturday and installed the crown molding and the chair rail (Jeb assisted). He did a GREAT job!! It turned out really great. In case you can't tell from the picture, the paint color is (Pottery Barn) Sage Green. The top of the chair rail is the exact color and the bottom is about 5 shades darker.

I decided to paint it green as everything else in the room will be pink or pink/white gingham and I didn't want it to be too much pink everywhere (if that's even possible!). Her bedding is "Patchwork Stars" from Pottery Barn and has the pink/white gingham, sage green, white patchwork all in it.
The other bedding pieces are pink/white gingham.

I also splurged and bought the cutest white iron chandelier with pink gems hanging from it and pink shades over the bulbs (Bombay Kids). It's going to be darling!

23rd Week - doctor's appointment
I had my 5th doctor’s appointment this week. Everything is normal, perfect and on schedule. Her heart beat was about 145. 3 lbs gained since last week…I am up to 10 lbs total…not too bad for 23 weeks. I have still had a few nauseas days…still taking medicine on those days. This week, she should be about 8.25 in, weigh about 1 lb and be about the size of an eggplant. I have also been having indigestion/heart burn a lot...pretty much having to take Tums every night before bed. Over the weekend, we attended a class at the hospital called "Life with Baby". It was a great class and I learned a lot.

Monday, Jeb stayed home from work and painted the nursery. By Saturday, the crown and chair rail will be complete. It's very exciting! I can't wait to get the furniture in there!

22nd Week
Weight gain is still 7 lbs. I am still having some nausea. On Thursday evening, I started feeling some cramping on the lower right side. It was not too painful but since I wasn’t sure what it was, I called my doctor’s office. The nurse indicated it was probably just soreness in the ligaments supporting the uterus and not to worry. On Saturday, we finished the garage and we almost have the nursery cleared out. This next weekend we will finish clearing out the last few items and next Monday, Jeb will be painting! I also felt a lot of movement this weekend, more than just flutters! I made Jeb press his hand in my stomach and for the first time, he felt something run across this fingers. He was very excited. On Monday evening, I actually saw my stomach move when there was movement. My belly is still growing! Maternity clothes are a must at this point! Next week I will have another doctor's appointment/checkup and I will be taking some education classes this month.

21st Week
Just got through my 21st week. I have gained a total of 7 lbs. Our future nursery is currently a storage room so this past week, Jeb started Phase I of the future nursery. He had shelves and cabinets built in the garage to relocate everything. Over the weekend, Jeb started organizing everything back into the garage. This week, we will start moving everything in the storage room out. I will attach a picture of the room with "junk" in it. Then an empty room picture, then eventually a picture of the finished project. This will be so much fun!
Just found out Cindy and Jeremy are having a GIRL too! I guess they will be best friends. This week I had a few days of puffy ankles again but not too bad. I also felt some movement...mostly when I am laying down. Pretty awesome!!

20th Week: 5 months pregnant!

This week I was officially in my 20th week. It's obvious I am pregnant as my belly is growing! I have gained 5 lbs (if you start with the weight I was before I was pregnant). I am still having morning sickness but not every day at this point. Thursday I ate out...Chinese...for lunch. By about 8:30 that night, I had swollen feet and ankles! Gross!!! No more Chinese for me! I still had it Friday and Saturday too but back to normal on Monday. SaturdayI registered everything she will need at Baby's R Us. There are so many choices...it was harder and took longer than I thought it would but it was fun! Pretty soon we will start working on the nursery. We have made most of the decisions...just need to pick up the supplies and have a work day!

19th Week: Ultrasound...It's a GIRL!!

I had my 4th doctor’s appointment today and my full ultrasound. It’s a GIRL!!! According to the scan, I am 19 weeks today so I am now turning weeks on Tuesdays. It also confirmed a day earlier due…February 6th. The radiologist said everything looked normal and her legs were spread enough that you could definitely tell for certain she is a girl. I have gained 3 pounds this week and 4 total.
On Sunday, Jeb and I celebrated 7 years of marriage. Someone told me 7 is the year of completion...the time of just the two of us is complete and now it's a new time! We usually go on a trip for our anniversary but since we have other priorities this year, we decided to do something local. Jeb was so sweet...he made us reserverations at the Hilton Galleria for an overnight stay and their famous Sunday Brunch. Before checking in, we attended an Astros game.

In case you don't know, I love attending professional sporting events (more than Jeb)...here I am at the World Series Game 3 in Houston last year (this was the game that went down in Baseball history as the longest game ever... didn't get out until 1:45 am.

OK, I have to throw this in too...shortly after the World Series was over, U2 came to Houston and I saw Craig Biggio after the show and took a picture with him
My doctor’s office called on Monday with the results from my blood work from my last visit…NEGATIVE for Down syndrome and NEGATIVE for Spinal Bifida. Thank you Jesus…perfect little girl in there!

16th Week: 4 Months & 2nd Trimester

I am in my 4th month this week. I am showing some...still having morning sickness. I gained 1 lb this past week. On Friday, I attended a rock concert. I took the day off from work so I could make it to a late hour. I did pretty good...we were in the front row. Everyone around including the security in front of the stage noticed I was expecting so they took care of me...I made it to about ½ way through the last act and went up to the company suite.

14th Week: doctor's appointment
I think I might be showing just a little…there is a little “bump”...Kelly and one other person noticed at Tori’s shower this week…also dealing with a little nausea and fatigue. I am back up to my original weight that I was before I was pregnant. Friday we attended an Astros Game…since I get tired easy now, I could only make it to the 8th inning and we left. Tori and Chad got married on Saturday! The dress I wore really showed a small baby bump…its official, I am starting to show. On Tuesday, I had my 3rd doctor’s appointment. Dr. Gunn scheduled my full ultrasound for my next visit which is only one month away. I heard the heart beat…164…Kelly is convinced it’s a girl since her girls were in the 160’s and her boys were in the 140’s. Everything looked great, no issues and no concerns. No weight gain since last visit.

13th Week
I am finally out of the first trimester…. suppose to mean less risk of miscarriage, less side affects, should start feeling like normal again… same weight as last week. Having a few other pregnancy issues but it goes with the territory!

10th Week: Saw the heart beat!
Tuesday, July 18, I had my 2nd doctor’s appointment today. Dr. Gunn couldn’t find the heart beat so she did another ultrasound. This time it was really cool. The baby looked much more like a baby than a peanut. It was moving around in there, stretching its arms and moving its legs. It was so emotional. On another note, this past week in New York was great. I did not have any nausea but one day (stayed in the hotel room the entire day and rested).

9th Week
I have lost 7 lbs since I started feeling nauseas. I am still loosing weight. I have not been able to eat very well since I have been so queasy every day. Since I did not feel very well last week and I was very busy, I did not keep very good track of my food in take. I have tried 2 nausea drugs and they both caused drowsiness. I am going to try one more and if it doesn't work, I am not going to be able to go to New York. Friday I started on Zofran...It worked wonders. No morning sickness or drowsy side effects. Monday no morning sickness…guess this medicine is working great. I am going to New York!!

7th Week: First official doctor's appointment
I just finished my 7th week. I lost another 2 pounds (total so far 6 lbs). I had some pretty strong nausea this week. My doctor called in a nausea medication….took it at 11am. By 12:30, I would not keep my eyes open. I felt pretty bad so Jeb had to pick me up from work. Slept 14 hours that night. Will have to try another drug. This week, I found out Cindy Fuller is also pregnant. She is due exactly 1 week before me. My first official DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT was on Friday...everything looks good. I had a couple of test done, an exam and then an ultrasound. I got my first picture of the baby…and my doctor confirmed there is only one baby in there! This week I have also noticed my face is very dry. Guess that's another pregnancy thing.

6th Week
I have been loosing weight; probably because I have not eaten very well the last few “green” days. I had a few queasy days this week. I called in to work late Monday but turned out I couldn’t make it to work anyway because of bad storms and flooding in Houston. Stayed home all day.
On another note...when Jeb and I decided we were going to try to get pregnant, he started looking for a 4-door truck for the "Family Vehicle". Of course, it was just an excuse to buy a "Powerstroke Diesel" truck or what I call a "big manly truck that sounds like an 18-wheeler pulling up in the driveway and rides about as smooth as a tractor" truck. As I get bigger, I'm sure riding in the "Powerstroke" won't be very comfortable. In fact, we better not take it to the hospital as I might have the baby in it! He keeps it spotless...spends a lot of time tinkering with it...I tease him that it has become "the mistress".

5th Week
I am still feeling really good. The only thing I am really noticing is that I get tired much quicker at night. I have also lost about 4 pounds. Near the end of the week, I started having some nausea. Crackers before I get up didn't really work all that great.
Monday, June 05, 2006
It's official!
Today, my Doctor called to confirm I am indeed pregnant. My first official appointment is later this month. I am scheduled for a sonogram but since that will be in the 7th week, I probably won’t hear a heart beat yet. I have started reading a book called “Your Pregnancy-Week by Week”. So far, no morning sickness! I am so glad.

We are having a baby!

We are having a baby!!! I have started this blog so you all can keep up with what's going on with the pregnancy and eventually the beautiful baby girl we will be having in February.
Below is a time line of where we started.
June 2005
After Jeb's dad passed away, we started talking about the possibility of having a child. We decided to think about it for the rest of the year and discuss in January.
January 2006
We think we were ready. We decided to wait one more month.
February 2006
We are ready to go off the pill. We called my doctor with questions. The nurse said to stop pills and wait 2 cycles before we start trying.
April 2006
No pills…we are trying to get pregnant!!
May 29, 2006 1 day late
May 30, 2006 2 days late
May 31, 2006 3 days late
Thursday, June 1, 2006
I was 4 days late! I decided to get a pregnancy test on the way home from work. Jeb was at Kelly’s helping them move. The test turned out positive! I called Jeb & told him to come right home. When he arrived, I just showed him the test. At first, he was very shocked! It took him a minute to comprehend what this meant. Even though we had been trying for 2 months, it was still a surprise. After the initial shock, it was happiness! We checked the test & the directions several times...decided it was for real! It’s time to tell the family.
We went over to Kelly’s. Mom was there. Jeb asked Kelly what she planned to do with Colin’s crib when he was out of it. Kelly replies I don’t know, sell it, why? He asks would you consider giving it to us. She replies, why & then her eyes got really big. At first, she got mad thinking we were playing a mean trick on her. Then, I pulled out the test to prove it. Screaming, crying jumping up & down followed. Mom & Kelly are both shocked. Now the questions; How? What? I thought… Immediately Kelly brings out her pregnancy books & starts telling me all sorts of things. She also decided to figure out the due date…February 8th according to her calculations. Now, we start calling everyone. That was so entertaining. I put the phone on speaker, drop the news & the response from everyone….”what, say that again…then 60 seconds of high pitched screaming. Later that night, we finally have a chance to tell Scott. His face was priceless! We also tell the girls later that night & they screamed for 5 minutes. We could not talk to them anymore on the phone.
Words from dad…
Well I would have to say to my future son or daughter that I am already thinking way ahead for them. I am thinking that I need to begin praying and prophesying over them and their mother, lay the spiritual ground work so to speak. The prayers that are spoken over them today will remain for the rest of their life; they don't just fade away with time. I am looking into ways to start a college savings plan for them so that when they are ready to begin college the money is there. I realize that I am getting started a little later in life than the majority of parents but also realize that my granddad and dad did the same thing. I need to take care of my health. I want to be a good "dad".
